Caladium Dance Skirt

This one's pure romance. Dance Skirt is a strap-leaf caladium with soft, blush-pink leaves that ripple out into a fluttery, ruffled edge — the whole plant moves like it's mid-twirl, which is how it earned the name. It's a showy, feminine little thing that brings color you usually only get from flowers, except this is all leaf. Caladiums grow from tubers and put on their big display through the warm months, so this is your spring-and-summer stunner. Set it somewhere with bright, gentle light, keep it happily watered, and let it show off. Sweet enough to be a gift, pretty enough to keep for yourself. One honest heads-up below about how caladiums behave through the year — it's normal, and worth knowing before you buy.  

Caladiums go dormant.  As the days shorten, the leaves will yellow, flop, and die all the way back to the tuber. First-time caladium owners panic here and think they killed it. You didn't — it's just napping. Cut back the water, keep the tuber somewhere warm-ish and barely moist, and it re-sprouts when things warm up again. 

New growth may come in green. A lot of Thai caladiums start out green and develop their color as they mature with enough light, so if you're selling tubers or young starters, set the expectation that the color deepens as it grows in — nobody should expect a fully-colored leaf on day one. They can also drop leaves from shipping stress and then re-leaf once settled, which is worth saying too.

Overwatering is the main killer. Caladiums are sensitive to wet soil and root rot is the usual culprit behind problems, so evenly moist with good drainage — never soggy. That's the Average tag doing honest work.
