The Alocasia Macrorrhiza 'Camouflage' (also commonly sold under names like 'Splash', 'Batik', or 'Phoebus') is a highly coveted, rare cultivar of the Giant Taro native to Southeast Asia. It is celebrated by collectors for its oversized, heart-shaped leaves featuring an unpredictable marbled variegation pattern of dark green, light green, cream, and yellow.

Here is a mind-bending fun fact about the Alocasia Camouflage: it can literally read the temperature of your room just by looking at its leaves.
Because its spectacular camo pattern is caused by an unstable genetic mutation, the leaves are incredibly sensitive to the environment. If the plant gets too cold or stressed, it can completely "revert" to solid boring green, erasing the camouflage pattern entirely. However, if you move it to a warmer, more humid spot, the next new leaf it pushes out will often bring the vibrant camouflage pattern right back! It acts like a living, tropical mood ring.
