The golden grail. Everybody knows the white Albo, but the Aurea is its rarer, sunnier cousin — same iconic Swiss-cheese Monstera, except the variegation comes in buttery yellow and gold instead of white, splashed across deep green leaves. The color shifts from light green to golden to creamy as leaves mature, and every leaf is its own painting — some marbled, some dramatically half-moon. Best part for anyone short on space: this is the "small form" (borsigiana), which means it grows faster, fenestrates earlier, and stays more compact than the large form — so you get that gorgeous color and those signature splits sooner, without it taking over the room. It's a fast, upright climber, so give it a pole and watch it show off. A genuine collector's centerpiece, and the warm gold reads completely different from the usual white variegates.  We don't always have aurea in the borsigiana form, so snatch her while you can!  

Aurea variegation is stable but ... In low light it develops more green to photosynthesize, while fully-yellow leaves have no chlorophyll and will drain the plant. The fix: keep it in bright indirect light to prevent reversion, and if it throws a few all-green or all-yellow leaves in a row, trim back to the last nicely-variegated leaf to rebalance. 

It's more rot-prone than a standard Monstera, so the "never soggy" note matters more here — overwatering is the #1 killer, which is why it's tagged needs a routine rather than easygoing.
